Troops Arrest Four Herders Over Alleged Destruction of Farmland in Plateau

Troops of Sector 3 under Operation Enduring Peace have arrested four herders in connection with the alleged malicious destruction of a farmland in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 3:20 p.m. on Aug. 5 at Ricochongo Village, following a distress report that a farm belonging to one Mr. Azumi Ade had been deliberately vandalised.
According to the sources, troops responded swiftly to the scene and discovered that crops on the farm had been cut down with machetes.
The sources said the suspected principal offender, identified as Idris Hashimu, fled on sighting the troops and remains at large.
However, troops arrested four other herders identified as Isa Adamu, Abdullahi Adamu, Mohammadu Lawal, and Abubakar Nura, who were found in the area. Two cows believed to be connected with the incident were also taken into custody.
The suspects and the recovered livestock are in custody for further investigation and necessary legal action, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
