Troops Arrest Herder, Recover 69 Cattle After Farm Destruction in Plateau

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), in collaboration with Operation Rainbow, have arrested a herder and recovered 69 cattle following the reported destruction of farms belonging to four farmers in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, at Ta Hoss village, where farms belonging to Mr Markus Danjuma and three other farmers were reportedly destroyed.
The sources said troops of Sector 6, OPEP, responded to the incident and, upon arrival at the location, arrested a herder identified as Mustapha Yahaya.
The troops also recovered 69 cattle allegedly linked to the incident and moved the suspect and the animals to their location for further necessary action.
Meanwhile, the owner of the cattle, identified as Alhaji Abu Dare, has been contacted to facilitate an amicable settlement of the matter.
Further developments are expected as efforts continue to resolve the dispute and establish the circumstances surrounding the reported destruction of the farms.
