Troops of 5 Brigade Operation HADIN KAI have arrested six suspected logistics suppliers linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources said the suspects were apprehended at about 12:30 p.m. on May 6 while troops were conducting road maintenance and security operations within the area.
The sources disclosed that the operation led to the recovery of one vehicle, five mobile phones, two new sewing machines, 10 bundles of clothing materials, and five 25-litre gallons of oil suspected to be meant for terrorist camps.
Troops also recovered a cash sum of N5,077,700 alongside other sundry items from the suspects.
According to the sources, preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were allegedly involved in supplying logistics and other support materials to terrorist elements operating within the North-East.
The arrested suspects and recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.
Sources say ongoing interdiction operations targeting logistics networks have continued to disrupt the movement of supplies and financial support to insurgent groups across the region.
