Troops Arrest Suspected Drug Peddler, Recover Cannabis and Vehicles in Makurdi

Troops of Sector 1 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered cannabis and vehicles during an operation in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State.
Security sources said the suspect was apprehended at about 6:20 p.m. on May 15, 2026, at the High Level area of Makurdi.
According to the sources, troops recovered quantities of suspected cannabis sativa, two vehicles and other sundry items during the operation.
The suspect and the recovered exhibits are currently in military custody pending further investigation and necessary action.
Security authorities said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and related criminal activities within the state.
