Troops of 196 Amphibious Battalion have arrested a suspected female collaborator of ISWAP terrorists in Baga town, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources said the suspect was apprehended at about 8:00 a.m. on May 20 during a routine security check conducted by troops at the C Company location in Lawanti area of Baga.
Items recovered from the suspect included four packs of ready-to-use supplementary food, two hijabs and one wristwatch.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was allegedly transporting the items to her son, who is suspected to be a terrorist operating within the Dumba general area.
The suspect was subsequently taken into custody for further investigation and necessary action.
The arrest is part of ongoing counterterrorism operations and intensified security measures aimed at disrupting logistics and support networks sustaining insurgent activities in the Lake Chad region.
Military sources said troops remained vigilant in tracking suspected collaborators, informants and supply channels linked to terrorist groups operating in the North-East.
