Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have arrested a suspected criminal with an alleged history of gunrunning activities in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The suspect, identified as Joseph Tukura, also known as Sarti, was arrested at about 9:00 p.m. on August 23, 2026, by troops of Sector 6, Operation ENDURING PEACE, deployed at Sopp.
Tukura was reportedly intercepted while riding a motorcycle along the Ungwan Boka–forest axis in Riyom LGA over alleged involvement in criminal activities along the highway.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had previously been arrested over suspected gunrunning activities but had allegedly resurfaced in the area.
The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation to establish his possible links to other criminal elements operating along the highway and surrounding communities.
Security sources said further investigation would determine whether the suspect is connected to wider arms-trafficking or criminal networks in the area
