Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a suspected terrorist logistics supplier and recovered 450 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) concealed in a vehicle along the Maiduguri–Gubio road in Borno State.
Security sources said the arrest was made at about 5:50 p.m. on Oct. 27 by troops of 212 Battalion deployed at Delta 1 Checkpoint, Gubio Junction.
The sources said the troops intercepted the vehicle during a routine security operation along the major supply route and apprehended the occupant suspected of supplying logistics to terrorist groups.
A search of the vehicle reportedly led to the discovery of 18 jerrycans, each containing 25 litres of PMS, concealed beneath 35 packs of soft drinks.
The troops also recovered a mobile phone and cash amounting to ₦95,200.
The suspect and the recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.
The arrest forms part of ongoing efforts by troops to disrupt terrorist logistics networks and prevent the movement of supplies to criminal groups operating in the North-East.
