Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a suspected terrorist logistics supplier and recovered a cache of explosive materials along the Gusau–Magami road in Zamfara State.

Security sources told Zagazola that the suspect was apprehended at about 12:30 p.m. on April 23 by troops of 1 Mechanised Infantry Regiment deployed in Gusau Local Government Area.

The sources said the suspect was intercepted while en route from Gobirawa Chali, allegedly to deliver explosive materials to terrorist elements operating in the area.

Items recovered from the suspect include 394 water gel explosives, five electric detonators (No. 33), one and a half rolls of detonating cord, and a mobile phone.

According to the sources, the suspect and the recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.

They added that the operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security forces to disrupt terrorist supply chains and prevent the movement of explosive materials within the North-West region.

The general security situation in the area is being closely monitored by troops, with sustained operations aimed at curbing criminal activities.
