Troops, CJTF arrest suspected cattle rustler in Plateau

Troops of Sector 8 of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have arrested a suspected cattle rustler in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect was apprehended at about 10:15 p.m. on July 26 during a security operation at Gesin Village in Mangu LGA.
According to the sources, the suspect confessed during preliminary interrogation to participating in the rustling of cattle belonging to the Village Head of Baban Rigi on July 19.
The suspect is currently in military custody and is expected to undergo further investigation before being handed over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.
Security sources said the arrest forms part of ongoing operations aimed at curbing cattle rustling and other criminal activities across Plateau State, while efforts are continuing to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate.
