Troops of the 114 Battalion deployed under Operation MESA in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State, in collaboration with local vigilantes, have rescued two kidnapped victims during a foiled kidnap operation.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted at about 12:10 a.m. on July 26 at Tashan Musa and Barkindan Fulani villages in Lau LGA.
The sources said the troops and vigilantes responded swiftly to reports of kidnapping activities in the area, forcing the abductors to abandon their victims and flee.
The two rescued victims were found to have been held captive for about two weeks before their rescue.
The victims are currently in the custody of the troops for debriefing and other necessary procedures, while efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing kidnappers.
Security agencies have assured residents that operations against kidnapping and other criminal activities will continue across the state to enhance the safety of lives and property.
