Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have cleared several suspected terrorist hideouts and neutralised two armed fighters during sustained operations in Bagega–Sunke forests area of Zamfara State.
Security sources said the operation, conducted in the early hours of May 4, involved coordinated clearance of multiple villages across Talata Mafara and Maradun Local Government Areas.
The troops reportedly cleared Maikwanuga village up to Aljumma, as well as Gidan Dawa, Magami Didi, and Tungar Magaji communities.
According to the sources, contact was made with armed terrorists at Tungar Magaji, prompting a brief exchange during which the criminals withdrew to avoid further casualties.
During the operation, two terrorists were neutralised, while troops recovered an AK-47 rifle with registration number NE 3774, one magazine containing 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a motorcycle.
The sources added that the troops have continued clearance operations in the general area to deny terrorist elements freedom of movement and regrouping.
They noted that the ongoing offensive is part of sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating across forested areas of Zamfara State.
