Troops of 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, in a joint operation with personnel of the Nigeria Police and local vigilante groups, have destroyed suspected criminal hideouts and apprehended a suspect during an offensive operation in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi.

Sources report that the operation was conducted at about 7:00 a.m. on April 10 in Akpagogo Forest under the Joint Task Force (JTF) Omala.

Sources said the troops, while combing the forest, apprehended a civilian alleged to have violated established grazing guidelines within the area.

Further exploitation of the forest by the joint forces led to the destruction of suspected criminal camps believed to have been used as hideouts by criminal elements.

The apprehended suspect has been handed over to the Divisional Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force in Abejukolo for further investigation and necessary action.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to deny criminal elements safe havens and enhance security across Kogi State.
