Troops of 21 Special Armoured Brigade (SAB) under Operation Hadin Kai have conducted a successful exploitation of the airstrike location at Chonogolo Kura, Borno State, neutralising a terrorist and destroying several enclaves and logistics structures.
Zagazola report that the exploitation followed an airstrike carried out at about 10:40 a.m. on Feb. 3 on terrorist hideouts in the Chonogolo Kura area.
Sources said that at about 12:45 p.m. the same day, troops of 21 SAB departed to assess the Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) and the impact of the strike.
“Troops arrived the objective observed that the general area of Chonogolo Kura with several new enclaves was very active, but the effect of the strike was huge.
“The remaining terrorists fled in different directions as own troops approached the location,” the sources stated.
According to the sources, troops exploited up to a one-kilometre radius around the target area and discovered medical treatment items believed to have been used to treat injured terrorists.
“During the exploitation, troops neutralised one terrorist sighted hibernating within the shrubs.
“Troops also discovered and set ablaze harvested guinea corn belonging to the terrorists from their large farm.
“Thereafter, troops destroyed some of their life-support structures. Signs of a fresh grave were also observed,” it added.
The military said movement during the operation was hitch-free, adding that the general security situation across the area remains calm.
It noted that troops’ morale and fighting efficiency remain satisfactory, as operations continue to degrade terrorist capabilities and deny them freedom of action in the North-East.
