Troops of Sector 8, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), have foiled a suspected attack by Fulani Bandits on Manja community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Credible security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 2:10 p.m. on Aug. 14, following a report of the movement of armed men suspected to be Fulani men from the mountain ranges towards Manja community.
The armed men were reportedly dressed in black outfits and red berets and were moving alongside their cattle towards the community.
Upon receiving the report, troops deployed at Manja Forest advanced towards the location and established contact with the armed group.
The intervention of the troops forced the armed men to withdraw in disarray into the bushes alongside their cattle.
Following the development, troops, in collaboration with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), have continued to dominate the area and monitor the situation to prevent any further security breach.
The operation underscores the importance of timely intelligence and rapid military intervention in preventing attacks on vulnerable communities in Plateau State.
