Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have foiled an attempted infiltration of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Military sources said the incident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. on June 29 when troops of Sector 6, in collaboration with other security agencies on guard duty at the institute, detected the movement of unidentified suspected criminals around the facility.
According to the sources, the security personnel responded swiftly, forcing the suspected intruders to flee into a nearby thick shrub before they could gain access to the institute.
The troops immediately conducted a search of the surrounding area where the suspects were last sighted, but no contact was established as the suspects had escaped.
The sources said security has since been reinforced around the facility, while surveillance and area domination patrols have been intensified to prevent any further attempt to breach the premises.
They added that the area remains under close monitoring as security agencies continue efforts to identify and apprehend those behind the attempted infiltration.
