Troops Foil Attempted Kidnap in Jos, Rescue Victim, Arrest Four Suspects

Troops of Sector 1 under Operation Enduring Peace have foiled an attempted kidnap in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, rescued a female victim who escaped from her abductors, and arrested four suspects during a follow-up raid.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the troops responded at about 8:00 a.m. on Aug. 6 to reports of kidnapping activities around the ECWA Staff Quarters in Jos North.
On arrival, the troops discovered that the victim, identified as Miss Gift Nicholas, had managed to escape from her abductors before the security team reached the scene.
Acting on intelligence generated from the incident, the troops launched a follow-up raid at about 9:00 a.m. on a Fulani settlement located behind the ECWA Staff Quarters.
During the operation, the troops recovered one locally made Dane gun and arrested four suspects identified as Habibu Aliyu, 19; Muhammadu Abdullahi, 13; Hamisu Aliyu, 17; and Abbas Adam, 27.
The suspects are currently in military custody and are undergoing investigation to determine their roles in the attempted abduction and any possible links to other criminal activities in the area.
Security sources said the operation forms part of sustained efforts by Operation Enduring Peace to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across Plateau State, adding that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the suspected criminal network.
