Troops foil robbery attempt, rescue two victims in Taraba

Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Peace Shield have foiled a suspected armed robbery and kidnapping attempt along the Wukari–Ikyior Road in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, rescuing two victims and restoring calm to the area.
Sources said that the incident occurred at about 4:25 p.m. on Monday when suspected criminals blocked the Wukari–Ikyior road near Jandeikula and attempted to abduct road users.
“Troops from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Wukari swiftly responded to a distress call and moved to the scene. On sighting the troops, the suspects abandoned their captives and fled into the bush with their motorcycles,” the source said.
He identified the rescued victims as Mr Terso Kerso, 48, and Mr Udongu Terbo, 42, both from Ikyior Community in Wukari LGA.
According to him, the victims were found unconscious and were immediately evacuated to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Wukari, for medical attention.
The source added that troops were currently dominating the general area with robust patrols to prevent any further criminal activity.
