Troops foil terrorist ambush along Buni Gari-Buratai road in Borno

Troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade have foiled an ambush by suspected terrorists along the Buni Gari-Buratai road in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.

Zagazola gathered that the incident occurred at about 10:45 a.m. on Sept. 7, 2026, when the terrorists ambushed the troops while they were operating along the route.

During the encounter, one Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle ran over an improvised explosive device (IED), damaging two of its tyres.

The troops subsequently exploited the ambush site and recovered one AK-47 magazine, 30 rounds of 7.62x39mm special ammunition, two RPG bombs, one motorcycle and two bicycles.

No casualty was reported in the incident, while the troops continued their operations to dominate the area and deny terrorists freedom of movement.
