Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have intercepted 148 cattle and four rams allegedly involved in illegal grazing within a restricted area in Telengpat community, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 3:00 p.m. on May 8 when troops of Sector 8 OPEP deployed at Pushit on patrol encountered the livestock grazing in a prohibited zone.

According to the sources, the animals were immediately intercepted and moved under military supervision pending further action.

The sources added that leaders of the Fulani community were contacted to assist in identifying the owners of the cattle and rams for necessary administrative procedures.

Security personnel have since intensified patrols in the area to prevent further incidents of illegal grazing and possible farmer–herder tensions.

The development is part of ongoing operations by troops of Operation Enduring Peace aimed at reducing conflict triggers, protecting farmlands, and maintaining peace across communities in Mangu and other parts of Plateau State.
