Troops Intercept Stray Cattle Destroying Farmland in Plateau

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have intercepted stray cattle found grazing on a cultivated farmland in Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 5:20 p.m. on July 22, when troops of Sector 1, Sub-Sector 12, on routine patrol along the Federe Road, discovered three cattle destroying crops on a farm.
The troops immediately intercepted the animals and moved them to a secure location to prevent further damage to the farmland.
Sources said the cattle are being held pending the identification and verification of their rightful owner, after which appropriate action will be taken in line with existing procedures.
Military authorities said the intervention forms part of ongoing efforts by Operation Enduring Peace to prevent farmer-herder disputes, protect livelihoods, and maintain peace in communities across Plateau State.
They urged livestock owners to ensure proper control of their animals to avoid incidents capable of triggering conflicts between farmers and herders.
