Troops of the 19 Battalion (Motorised), in conjunction with the 25 Brigade Garrison, have intercepted suspected logistics suppliers to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was carried out at about 2:30 p.m. on July 15 during a routine patrol along the Kauji Road axis.
According to the sources, the troops intercepted two suspected terrorist logistics suppliers who fled into the bush immediately after sighting the patrol team, abandoning their bicycles and the supplies they were conveying.
Items recovered at the scene included two bicycles, five cartons of energy drinks, one carton of milk, one carton of soft drinks, two cartons of veterinary medicines, and one blue canopy.
Military sources said the recovered items have been taken into custody, while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The operation forms part of sustained efforts by Operation HADIN KAI to disrupt the logistics network of ISWAP by intercepting supplies intended for terrorist enclaves and denying the groups the resources needed to sustain their activities in the North-East.
