Troops launch rescue operation as kidnappers demand N1m ransom in Plateau

Troops under Sector 5 of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have launched a search and rescue operation following the abduction of a civilian in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau state.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 5:00 a.m. on April 20 at Maiduna village, where suspected kidnappers abducted the victim to an unknown destination.
The sources said troops, in collaboration with other security agencies, swiftly responded to the report and conducted search and rescue operations within the area, but no contact was made with the perpetrators.
According to the sources, the victim’s family later confirmed that the kidnappers had established contact and were demanding a ransom of N1 million for the victim’s release.
They added that efforts were ongoing to track down the kidnappers and secure the safe release of the victim, while security presence had been reinforced in the area to prevent further incidents.
