Troops of the 17 Brigade operating from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Malumfashi, in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, have raided Dankanjiba village in Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State, arresting eight suspected drug peddlers.
The raid, conducted at about 1730 hours on June 20, was part of ongoing joint operations targeting criminal networks and illicit drug distribution channels in the area.
During the operation, the team recovered 59.1 grams of suspected cannabis and 35.3 grams of tramadol.
Preliminary investigations reportedly indicated that the suspects were suppliers of hard drugs and other illicit substances to terrorist elements and other criminal groups operating in the region.
Security sources said the suspects and recovered exhibits have been handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and possible prosecution.
