Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised a suspected insurgent during a night ambush operation in Borno State.
Security sources said the incident occurred in the early hours of April 13 when an ambush team of 202 Battalion, deployed at a forward location, sighted a suspected member of JAS/ISWAP attempting to cross a defensive perimeter.
The troops reportedly engaged the suspect at close range, leading to his neutralisation.
There were no casualties recorded among the troops, and no equipment was lost during the operation.
Military authorities said the successful engagement underscores the effectiveness of ongoing counter-insurgency efforts aimed at preventing infiltration of military positions.
They added that the general security situation across the North-East theatre remains calm but unpredictable, with troops maintaining high vigilance.
