Troops of 159 Battalion (Bravo Company), in conjunction with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have neutralised three suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists during a night ambush operation in Borno State.
Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 10:55 p.m. on April 2 along the Geidam market axis following intelligence on the movement of suspected terrorist logistics suppliers.
According to the sources, troops mounted an ambush position and engaged a suspected logistics vehicle conveying supplies to terrorist elements.
The encounter resulted in the neutralisation of three suspects, while the tyres of the logistics vehicle were damaged during the exchange.
Items recovered from the scene include a Toyota Hilux pickup vehicle with registration number YUN 217 AA, a smartphone containing suspected terrorist-related videos and images, two Tecno mobile phones, and assorted food and household supplies.
The recovered items comprised a bag of rice, sugar, guinea corn, wheat bran, crates of soft drinks, loaves of bread, cartons of soap, spaghetti, condensed milk, ginger candy, Maggi seasoning, biscuits, and other sundry goods.
Security sources also confirmed the recovery of five rams from the scene, believed to be part of the logistics supplies being conveyed.
All recovered items have been taken into custody for further investigation and action.
