Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralised two suspected bandits and recovered arms and communication equipment during an ambush operation in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara.
Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 2:55 p.m. on March 25 by troops of 1 Brigade Counter-Terrorism unit along the Gada Maya–Makakari road.
According to the sources, the troops had laid an ambush along a major supply route frequently used by bandits when they made contact with the armed elements.
“The troops engaged the bandits, neutralising two of them during the encounter,” the source said.
Items recovered from the scene include one AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 55 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a Baofeng radio set, two mobile phones and one motorcycle.
The sources said the recovered items are believed to have been used for communication and mobility by the bandits.
Troops are said to have sustained offensive operations in the area, maintaining pressure on criminal elements and enhancing security across the state.
