Troops of Sector 9, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have neutralised two local terrorists and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during an operation in Nwur Village, Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Zagazola gathered that the operation was conducted on Monday, August 10, 2026, following the arrest and interrogation of a suspected bandit by troops of Sector 9 deployed in Shendam.

A military source said the suspect provided information on the location where his rifle was concealed, prompting troops to mobilise with him to Nwur Village to recover the weapon.

The troops, however, came under attack while approaching the location and immediately engaged the attackers.

During the ensuing firefight, one of the attackers, including the suspected bandit who was accompanying the troops, was neutralised.
The troops sustained no casualty in the encounter.

The source said troops subsequently exploited the engagement area and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine and two rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition from the terrorists.

The two terrorists were identified as local indigenes that have been terrorizing the area. In most cases attacks by these criminals were blamed on Fulani bandits.

The troops are currently conducting further exploitation of the area with a view to apprehending or neutralising other fleeing members of the syndicate.
