Troops of Sector 3, Nigerian Army, have recovered a locally fabricated weapon from the residence of another suspect in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The recovery was made at about 1800 hours on Sept. 19, 2026, following credible intelligence on the alleged illegal possession of firearms.

According to security sources, troops subsequently conducted a cordon-and-search operation at the residence of the suspect, identified as Vincent Azi, leading to the recovery of the locally fabricated weapon.

Azi was arrested and is currently in custody, where he is undergoing detailed investigation to determine the source of the weapon and the circumstances and intent surrounding its possession.

Security sources said the investigation would also establish whether the suspect has any links to other  criminal networks involved in kidnappings, attacks or distribution of firearms in the area.
