Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have recovered nine rustled cattle following a swift response to a cattle rustling incident in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 3:32 p.m. on July 2, when suspected rustlers made away with 28 cattle from Ajing village in Mangu LGA.
The sources said troops of Sector 8 OPEP, working in collaboration with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) and the Panyam Youth Leader, immediately launched a search operation in the mountainous areas around Vodni Larkas.
During the operation, the security team successfully recovered nine of the stolen cattle, which were moved to a secure location for documentation and subsequent handover to their rightful owners.
The sources added that efforts were ongoing to track down the rustlers and recover the remaining 19 cattle.
