Troops Recover Nine Rustled Cattle in Plateau

By Zagazola Makama

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace, in collaboration with Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), have recovered nine cattle reportedly rustled from Jwak Deshwar village in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The recovery followed a cattle-rustling incident in the community, after which troops of Sector 8, OPSH, launched a search operation in the general area at about 9 a.m. on Aug. 7.

According to a military source, the troops recovered nine cows abandoned by the suspected rustlers in a bush.

The source said the cattle were abandoned by the rustlers following sustained pressure from the troops during the search operation.

The recovered cattle were handed over to the youth leader of Jwak, identified as Yobo, for safe keeping pending the discharge of the owner from hospital.

Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the suspected rustlers.
