Army Holds Stakeholders’ Meeting to Strengthen Peace and Prevent communal attacks in Riyom

The Nigerian Army has convened a stakeholders’ security meeting in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State to address recurring communal attacks and conflicts and promote lasting peace in the area.

The meeting was held at about 1 p.m. on Aug. 7 at the Headquarters of Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace, Makera, Riyom LGA.

The meeting was attended by the GOC 3 Division and Commander, Operation SAFE HAVEN, Maj.-Gen. W.M. Dangana, Chief of Staff, Joint Task Force OPSH, Commander Sector 6, the Chairman of Riyom LGA, the Liaison Officer to the Plateau State Governor and several traditional and community leaders.

Others included the Atta Aten of Ganawuri, Gwom-Rwei of Riyom, Dagwon Rwei of Bachi, BYM President, Gwom Tahoss, Plateau State Youth Council, Gwom Sopp, among other stakeholders from the local government.

The stakeholders deliberated on measures to address isolated attacks, prevent escalation of communal conflicts and strengthen peaceful coexistence among communities in the area.

The engagement formed part of efforts by the security authorities and community stakeholders to develop sustainable solutions to security challenges and consolidate peace within the operational area.
