Security sources disclosed that the troops responded to a distress call at about 12:25 p.m. on June 22 regarding the movement of suspected terrorists in the area.

The sources said the troops swiftly mobilised and made contact with the terrorists, engaging them in a firefight.

According to the sources, the superior firepower of the troops forced the terrorists to flee, abandoning a large number of livestock suspected to have been rustled from communities within the area.

Items recovered during the operation included 2,423 sheep, 10 donkeys and one calf.
