Troops recover two bodies after attack by gunmen in Igbo Eze North in Enugu

Troops, in collaboration with police and other security agencies, have recovered two bodies following an attack by unknown gunmen in Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 2:25 a.m. on April 6, 2026, when troops of Sector 1 Operation UDO KA responded to a distress call reporting gunfire in Umufu village.
On arrival at the scene, the joint security team discovered two persons who had been killed by the assailants.
A motorcycle was also recovered at the scene.
The corpses were evacuated to a nearby mortuary, while investigation has commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify those responsible.
Security presence has since been reinforced in the area to forestall further incidents and reassure residents.
