Troops repel attack, one person killed as bandits attack villages in Benue

At least one person was killed when herdsmen bandits launched an attack on Olojo, Ojantelle, and Edikwu Icho villages in Apa Local Government Area of Benue State on February 22.
Security sources said the bandits stormed the villages at about 1:45 p.m., firing sporadically and causing panic among residents. Troops and tactical units promptly engaged the assailants in a gun duel, forcing them to flee into nearby bushes.
During the attack, Ngbede Okpe Agabaidu, a resident of Edikwu Icho, was shot dead.
His body was later evacuated to the local mortuary. Military authorities have coordinated aerial surveillance and are currently combing surrounding areas to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
