Troops under Operation Enduring Peace have foiled an attack by Berom Militia on cattle along the Gwom–Bachi axis in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, recovering two motorcycles abandoned by fleeing suspects.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that  the incident occurred at about 071630A on May 7 when troops of Sector 6 responded to a distress report of an attack on cattle by unidentified criminals in the area.

On arrival, the troops reportedly made contact with the suspects, who fled the scene following superior firepower from the responding team.

The sources said one cow was found dead at the scene, while two motorcycles believed to have been used by the attackers were recovered.

They added that follow-up operations have been launched to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects, as part of ongoing efforts to stabilise the area and prevent further attacks.

Security presence has been reinforced along vulnerable routes within Riyom Local Government Area to deter further criminal activity and reassure residents.
