Nigerian Army troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have successfully repelled terrorist attacks in Katsina State, forcing insurgents to flee and securing the surrender of a high-ranking terrorist commander in Jibia Local Government Area.
In Unguwan Baki village, Faskari Local Government Area, troops engaged a group of terrorists attempting an attack. Overwhelmed by superior firepower, the terrorists fled into the forest, abandoning their motorcycles.
In a significant counterterrorism breakthrough, a senior terrorist commander in Jibia Local Government Area voluntarily surrendered to the military.
As a gesture of his willingness to renounce violence, he handed over two AK-47 rifles and released 10 captives, including seven women and three children.
Security sources confirmed that the surrender marks a critical step in ongoing efforts to weaken terrorist networks in the region.
