Troops have rescued injured commuters after armed men attacked a vehicle along the Kachia–Nasarawa road in Kaduna State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 12:01 a.m. on April 30 when a white J5 vehicle conveying two passengers and 35 bags of locust beans was ambushed by unidentified armed elements along the route.
The sources disclosed that troops of Sector 1, who were on routine patrol along the axis, responded to a distress call and moved to the scene.
According to the sources, the attackers fled upon sighting the advancing troops, abandoning the scene.
They added that the injured driver and the two passengers were rescued and immediately evacuated to General Hospital Idon in Kachia Local Government Area for medical attention.
The sources noted that troops have continued to dominate the general area with intensified patrols to deny criminal elements freedom of action along the route.
