Security sources disclosed that the troops responded to a distress call at about 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday after armed assailants attacked Lusuru village in the area.
According to the sources, the swift intervention of the troops forced the attackers to flee towards the River Kaduna axis.
The sources said the troops subsequently rescued two injured victims identified as Mrs Charity Sunday and Mrs Asabe Ayuba from the scene of the attack.
“The victims were immediately evacuated to Saint Louis Hospital, Zonkwa, for medical treatment,” the sources said.
The troops have since intensified efforts to trail and arrest the fleeing attackers while maintaining security dominance in the area to prevent further attacks.
