Troops Respond to Discovery of Corpse in Plateau Community

Troops of Sector 5, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have responded to the discovery of the body of a man in Hurti Village, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

 

Security sources said the troops were alerted at about 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday following reports of the discovery of a corpse in the community.

 

According to the sources, the troops immediately moved to the location, where they confirmed the deceased as Mallam Bala Ismaila, a Fulani resident of Hurti Village.

 

Preliminary investigations indicated that the deceased reportedly slumped and died while defecating in an open field behind the settlement.

 

Following the preliminary assessment, the body was released to the deceased’s relatives, who evacuated it for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

 

The sources added that there was no indication of foul play at the scene based on initial findings, while troops have continued to monitor the general security situation in the area to ensure the maintenance of peace and order.

 

The incident was reported to have occurred without any breach of security, and normal activities have continued in the community.
