Troops of the Nigerian Army have restored normalcy following a communal clash in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 1:10 p.m. on March 20, prompting troops of 1 Brigade deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Maru to respond to a distress call.
On arrival, the troops discovered that the clash had led to the blockage of the Maru–Bungudu road, disrupting movement along the route.
The sources said one person was confirmed dead, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries during the violence.
“The troops intervened promptly and mediated between the aggrieved factions, which helped in de-escalating the situation,” the source said.
Following the intervention, normalcy was restored and traffic flow resumed along the affected road.
The troops also advised residents to refrain from acts capable of undermining peace and public order.
Security personnel have since maintained heightened vigilance in the area to prevent any further breakdown of law and order.
