Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have seized two cattle during an operation against illegal grazing in prohibited areas of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted at about 3:00 p.m. on July 27, following a report of illegal grazing at Rim Community.
The sources said troops of Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace , responded promptly to the report and moved to the location, where they encountered herders grazing cattle in a restricted area.
On sighting the advancing troops, the herders fled with most of their livestock, abandoning two cattle, which were subsequently taken into custody by the security personnel.
Military sources said the recovered cattle are being held pending further action, while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the fleeing herders.
The operation forms part of sustained measures by Operation Enduring Peace to enforce compliance with grazing regulations, prevent farmer-herder conflicts and maintain peace across Plateau State.
