*Twin Blasts Hit Construction Site, Kill 2 in Borno State*

Two laborers tragically lost their lives and five others sustained injuries as two Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) detonated at a construction site in the Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State on Monday.

Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency expert in the Lake Chad region got it from impeccable sources that the first explosion occurred at the Koibe Primary School premises, currently under construction.

According to verified reports, a laborer carrying bricks to a part of the school building unknowingly transported an IED among the bricks. The explosive device suddenly detonated, claiming the life of the laborer instantly.

Shortly after, the second IED blast struck another worker at a different construction site on the outskirts of Koibe, causing further casualties and injuries.

The incident highlights the ongoing threat posed by unexploded ordnances (UXOs) in the region, which not only jeopardizes the safety of residents but also disrupts their way of life.

The prevalence of such dangerous remnants of conflict continues to have a profound impact on the local community, necessitating increased vigilance and precautionary measures to prevent further tragedies.

Earlier this month, Zagazola reported that six Quranic pupils in Gubio town were tragically killed in an explosion. The blast occurred at a scrap metal dump where an unexploded improvised explosive device (IED) had been mistakenly disposed of as scrap metal.
