Atleast two men were killed in separate incidents along Isuikwuato and Port Harcourt–Enugu roads.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the first incident occurred on Jan. 28 at about 11:00 p.m., when Uche Simon, 35, of Mgbelumunnekwu Village, Isuikwuato LGA, was shot by unknown armed men while returning from ABSU.

“The victim sustained gunshot injuries on his right hand and left side of the chest. His Qlink black motorcycle was stolen by the assailants,” the source said.

The Divisional Police Officer, Isuikwuato, led a team to the scene, recovered an empty shell of AK-47 ammunition, and moved the body to Living Home Hospital, Isuikwuato, where a medical doctor confirmed the victim dead. The corpse was preserved at the hospital morgue for autopsy.

Efforts are ongoing in collaboration with community leaders and vigilante groups to identify and apprehend the assailants, recover the stolen motorcycle, and prevent further attacks. The case is set to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation.

In a separate incident on Jan. 29 at about 6:00 a.m., Awba Abdulsalam, 19, a motor boy of driver Ajiya Ahmed of Mangu, Plateau State, was shot while the driver checked his vehicle at Nnuya Junction along the Port Harcourt–Enugu Expressway.

“The driver heard two gunshots and moved the truck from the spot, but the motor boy sustained fatal gunshot injuries to his waist,” the source said.

The police said the body was recovered and taken to the General Hospital, Isuikwuato, where he was confirmed dead. Following a request by the Seriki Hausa of Abia State, Alhaji Eze Yaro, the corpse was released for burial according to Islamic rites.

The police said manhunts for the culprits were ongoing and assured residents that patrols would be intensified to forestall similar attacks.
