Unidentified man in Niger Republic uniform found dead in Gwadabawa in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Police Command is investigating the discovery of a lifeless body of an unidentified man wearing a Niger Republic security uniform in Timeji bush, a remote hamlet under Gigane District, Gwadabawa LGA.
Sources said that at about 9:48 a.m. on Feb. 8, 2026, a distress call alerted security personnel to the scene. On arrival, troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA in collaboration with the police and Sokoto community guards confirmed that the corpse had gunshot injuries, suggesting the individual was killed elsewhere and later dumped at the location.
The DC CID has taken over the investigation, while confidence-building patrols by joint security agencies continue in the area.
The command said further developments will be communicated as the investigation progresses.
