Vigilante killed, another injured as bandits attack Wamba village in Niger State

An exchange of gunfire between armed bandits and local vigilantes in Wamba Village, Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State, left one vigilante dead and another injured, police confirmed.

Sources reliably informed that on Jan. 24 at about 2:30 p.m., a group of armed bandits invaded the village but were confronted by local vigilantes.

“During the gun battle, one vigilante, Hudu Mohammed, aged 35, was killed, while Zubairu Isah, 25, sustained gunshot injuries.

The corpse and the injured victim were taken to General Hospital Bangi for autopsy and treatment,” the source said.

The police said combined tactical teams and local vigilantes were mobilized to the area and are actively pursuing the fleeing bandits.

Efforts to apprehend the attackers remain ongoing.
