Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, operating under the ongoing Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have achieved another significant victory in the fight against criminal elements in Taraba State. On 14 April 2025, troops conducting clearance operations under the codename OPERATION LAFIYAN JAMAA neutralized two terrorists and destroyed several bandits’ camps.

Acting on credible intelligence, the troops swiftly responded to reports of suspected bandits moving between Mayokan and Bondogri villages in Bali Local Government Area (LGA). The troops advanced to the general area, making contact with the bandits around Garbatau, Garin Hamidu, Bandaguri, and Mayokan villages. A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in the neutralization of two terrorists, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.

During the operation, troops recovered the following items from the scene:1 AK-47 Rifle, 1 AK-47 Magazine, 4 rounds of 7.62mm Special Ammunition, 1 Single Barrel Dane Gun, 27 Arrows and 6 Cutlasses

In a separate operation conducted the same day in Ibi LGA, troops carried out a clearance patrol around Yamiri Village in Sarkin Kudu Ward, suspected to be a hideout for bandits. Upon sighting the troops, the criminals fled in disarray, abandoning their camp.

Further exploitation of the area led to the discovery of: 1 Military Woodland Camouflage Uniform and 1 Bible

The troops also destroyed all discovered bandit camps to deny the criminals any further operational base in the area.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, commended the troops for their gallantry. He reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to ensuring lasting peace and security across Taraba State and urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing military operations.

General Uwa further assured that the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army would remain resolute in its mission to safeguard the lives and property of citizens and would not relent until all criminal elements are flushed out of the state.
