A 70-year-old farmer, Mr. Ngwe Weyi, has been killed in an early morning attack along the Zanhwran-Nkiedonwro Road in Teegbe village, Miango District of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident, according to a statement by the Publicity Secretary of Miango Youth Development Association (MYDA), Mr. Weyi Agara, occurred at about 6:30 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026.

Agara said the victim was attacked while on his way to his farm, adding that he died from injuries sustained during the incident.

He said the deceased left behind his wife and two children, who are now faced with the consequences of the loss of their breadwinner.

The MYDA spokesman described the incident as a recurring pattern of violence against members of the Irigwe community, alleging that the attacks were part of a systematic attempt to displace the people from their ancestral communities.

He called on security agencies and relevant authorities to urgently strengthen security around farming communities and access routes in the area to prevent further attacks and protect farmers.
