Troops Recover Four AK-47 Rifles, 133 Rounds From Kidnap Syndicate Hideout in Enugu

Troops of 82 Division Garrison and 103 Battalion of the Nigerian Army have recovered four AK-47 rifles, seven magazines and 133 rounds of ammunition from a hideout belonging to a notorious kidnapping syndicate in Udi Forest, Enugu State.
The recovery followed follow-up operations conducted after the successful rescue of two kidnapped victims and the arrest of a logistics supplier and two other suspected kingpins of the criminal syndicate terrorising Enugu, Abia, Anambra and neighbouring states.
According to sources , the troops conducted the operation between 10:34 a.m. and 4:35 p.m. on Aug. 10 at Umuchingu Ujenike Forest, where the suspects reportedly concealed their weapons and ammunition.
The operation was conducted with the assistance of two arrested suspects, who led the troops to the forest hideout used by the gang to store its arms and ammunition.
The troops recovered four AK-47 rifles, seven AK-47 magazines and 133 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition from the location.
The latest recovery is expected to further aid ongoing investigations into the activities and networks of the kidnapping syndicate operating across Enugu and neighbouring states.
Security forces have continued to intensify operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks, recovering illegal weapons and denying kidnappers the logistics required to sustain their activities.
