A 20-year-old member of the Jamat Ahlus Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihad (JAS) has surrendered to troops of Operation HADIN KAI in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
A military source told Zagazola Makama that the terrorist, identified as Muhammad Abubakar, surrendered to troops of 202 Battalion at New Abaram Resettlement Village on August 7, 2026.
According to the source, Abubakar fled a terrorist camp in Zarmari following intensified military operations and internal disagreements within the enclave.
The suspect surrendered with three mobile phones and ₦3,000 cash.
He was subsequently screened and documented by the troops and is currently in the custody of 21 Military Intelligence Regiment pending evacuation to 7 Military Intelligence Brigade for further investigation and necessary action.
The development comes amid sustained military pressure on terrorist enclaves across the Bama axis, as troops continue operations aimed at degrading insurgent networks and encouraging the surrender of members willing to abandon terrorism.
