JAS Terrorist, 30, Surrenders to Troops in Bama

A 30-year-old member of the Jamat Ahlus Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihad (JAS) has surrendered to troops of Operation HADIN KAI in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
A military source told Zagazola Makama that the suspect, identified as Ali Modu, was intercepted by troops of 202 Battalion at about 12:15 p.m. on August 9, 2026, while on his way to surrender at New Abaram Resettlement Village.
The interception followed a fighting patrol conducted by the troops to Kalam Barde general area to deny terrorists freedom of action.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that Modu had fled a terrorist camp in Markas Hanifan Zarmari, around Bula Daloye, due to intensified military operations and internal disagreements within the terrorist enclave.
The suspect was found in possession of ₦47,900, which was recovered by the troops.
Modu is currently in the custody of 21 Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation and necessary action.
The surrender is the latest in a series of developments indicating growing pressure on terrorist enclaves in Borno, as sustained military operations continue to disrupt their activities and compel some members to abandon the insurgency.
